Blue Sky’s Whidbey

We cannot say enough good things about Gregg and Linda and what they do. We set out on our dog ownership journey during a global pandemic hoping for something good with relatively low expectations. Not only did Blue Sky Labs go above and beyond to help us choose our dog and get off to a great start, it is so clear that they are incredibly intentional about breeding their dogs for temperament, intelligence and health. Our dog, Whidbey, is now 14 weeks old, and is the sweetest, smartest, snuggliest dog anyone could imagine. He has yet to meet a human that didn’t instantly fall in love with him and we are in awe every day at how much joy he has added to our family.

Here are some things we particularly appreciated about Blue Sky Labs:

• Communication-they got back to us quickly via phone about reserving our pup and whenever we asked for photos
• The care and time they took when we met them to pick up our pup, they spent over an hour with us answering questions and letting us interact with multiple puppies before we made our choice, and they remain available to us for advice or resources should we need them
• Value-the total price for our dog seemed low compared to other breeders but now we know that more money does not equal a more quality dog
• Our puppy came with his dew claws removed, a bag of food, AKC paperwork, and first round of puppy shots
• We absolutely loved meeting Whidbey’s mom, Allie, and grandma. We met them right before we met the puppies, and both were incredibly friendly and well-behaved!

Since we brought Whidbey home when he was 7 weeks old, we were nervous that he would experience some separation anxiety from his litter and mom…we shouldn’t have worried. He was attached to us from the start, never whined in the car or at night. We attribute this to the caring and intentional way he was weaned and socialized with people by Blue Sky Labradors. He always eats and sleeps and plays like he is supposed to and hasn’t shown any pickiness with food or toys.

He learned his name in the first 90 minutes of being with us and quickly picked up sit, down, shake, wait, no, leave it plus 100 more commands all before 10 weeks. He took quickly to potty training and has slept both in his crate and with us at night seamlessly. He also took to fetch like a charm. We can’t wait for him to be fully vaccinated so we can continue socializing him and watching him grow and blossom into an amazing family dog. We are having a baby this fall, and Whidbey has adored all the babies and children he has met which makes us excited to see him be an amazing companion for our first child to grow up with.

All this to say, if you’re looking for a great breeder and a great dog, look no further. Blue Sky Labradors is all you need. We will be back for sure.

Blue Sky’s Jenny – Master Hunter

I have been a retriever field trail and hunt test live bird gunner for more years than I care to remember.

During those years, I always had a lab as my hunting dog, but did not compete with them.

I admired Gregg Mourges’ line of labs as they always seemed to be competitive. Gregg always seemed to be standing in line at the end of the day to pick up his ribbons.

His dogs were very strong “markers” and they showed an intelligence and eagerness to please that impressed me. And, as noted above, they were very successful

So when I decided to buy a yellow lab puppy and compete in the Hunt Tests, it was an easy choice for me to call Gregg.

I name the pup I bought Blue Sky’s Jenny. She has become a Master Hunter and a Master National Hunter. She passed the lass 11 weekend Master Stakes she has entered. She has also successfully passed the 2005 Master National in Palestine, TX and the 2006 Master National in Morgan Hill, CA.

She is my hunting dog and year round companion. I couldn’t be happier with Jenny and I whole heartedly recommend and endorse Gregg Mourges’ Blue Sky Labs.

Blue Sky’s Stormy

After 45 years of hunting & fishing I can say Blue Sky Labs has delivered on their promise of a “hunting machine”. Stormy has turned out to be just a top dog in the field – there is absolutely no quit in her! She is also a wonderful companion who goes everywhere with me. It was a pleasure doing business with Gregg and well worth the trip. I would gladly buy another yellow lab from Blue Sky Labs in the future.

Blue Sky’s Ginger

I’d known Gregg Mourges for years and had always wanted one of his top quality hunting dogs as I was an avid duck hunter in my teens and 20’s before kids and family life got in the way of waterfowling fun. When my wife finally gave in to my desire to have a dog there was only one choice – Blue Sky Labs. Ginger proved to be a fantastic retriever (she could retrieve a ball for hours on end) and even better family companion. She was so even-tempered and tolerated our little Chihuahua (Max) and treated him like her own little brother.
